I graduated from The University of Glasgow in 2006 with an honours degree in Education. After a period of teaching in inner-city schools around Glasgow, I moved abroad and embarked on a career working with international schools and clients. I worked in various positions ranging from teaching to child development and progressing into leadership roles.
I have a particular interest in the personal, social, and emotional development of children and how this affects mental health later in life which prompted me to complete an MSc Psychology in 2017.
I am the Chair of Nurture Scotland, an organisation established to support kinship carers. This is an extremely meaningful appointment as I was raised in kinship care as a child. I am also a Director of and serve on the Management Committee for Govan Youth Information Project, a non-profit organisation that delivers empowering youth work to children and young people.
I am a member of the Scottish Parliament's Cross Party Group on Mental Health and I am a figurehead for Psychologists for Social Change Scotland. I also teach Psychology at The University of Glasgow. You can find out more about my other work here.
